As temperatures soar and summer approaches, it’s time to plan and find the ideal spot for a relaxing vacation. While some may shy away from popular destinations due to crowds, hype, or mainstream appeal, it’s essential to remember that your experience hinges on your planning, and the right accommodation can transform your entire perception of a city. Ibiza, known as the ultimate summer getaway, perfectly aligns with the high expectations of The Standard Hotel. With the reopening of its breathtaking rooftop, Up, and a homey yet luxurious atmosphere, it’s undoubtedly the place to be.
Unpredictable weather has marked recent months, with winter attire lingering into spring. However, the moment you arrive at Ibiza’s airport, the atmosphere shifts. The warmth welcomes you, making heavy clothing unnecessary. Here, the climate is just right, unlike the fluctuating temperatures of your departure city. Our destination, The Standard Ibiza, represents the Mediterranean extension of a global brand with a variety of locations, from urban settings in New York and London to paradisiacal retreats in the Maldives and Hua Hin.
Situated ideally in Ibiza, the hotel is near beaches and the port, while also nestled in the heart of the old town. Major shops and landmarks, including the iconic Castle of Ibiza and its fortified streets on Dalt Vila, are within walking distance. The building radiates Mediterranean charm with its all-white exterior, punctuated by bright yellow balcony chairs that are both functional and decorative.
Upon entering, the emphasis on design and aesthetics is apparent, with vibrant contemporary pieces adding unique character to the lobby. This distinctive style extends to the staff, whose chic uniforms reflect the hotel’s “come as you are” philosophy, encouraging employees to be themselves.
We are here to celebrate the reopening of the rooftop Up, now featuring an updated look and stunning views of the White Island. This event also unveils a new menu at their rooftop restaurant. Although the hotel remains open year-round, the rooftop’s relaunch marks the official beginning of the summer season, filled with activities and hosting local and international DJs from late afternoon to evening. The elevator, which directly connects the entrance to the rooftop, invites everyone to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, delicious food, and fantastic music at Up.
The launch event was lively, attended by notable and influential island personalities, special guests, and friends of the hotel. Guests sampled the new menu by Chef David Ruano, which blends Latin and Japanese flavors into fresh and delectable dishes made from farm-to-table ingredients. The offerings cater to all tastes, with options ranging from vegetable-based dishes to meat and fish. Highlights include the Wagyu Burger and Salmon Teriyaki, but any choice is bound to delight. A selection of cocktails enhances the dining experience, whether you prefer sweet or savory flavors. Remember, Ibiza’s salt mines are famous, adding a unique touch to your drinks.
British musician Nabihah Iqbal’s live performance, set against the cinematic backdrop of the moonlit Castle of Ibiza and the steady stream of planes landing at the local airport, created the perfect Ibiza evening. The event heralded the opening of a space destined to host countless new memories. Up at The Standard Ibiza is now fully operational, boasting an open-air pool, a well-equipped gym, and another excellent restaurant on the ground floor, Jara.
