Tips: Smoothies offer endless add-in possibilities. Consider adding sugar or honey for sweetness; 1 tbsp. of wheat germ; 1 tbsp. of brewer’s yeast; or lemon or lime juice and zest. A delightful combination is honey, mango, lime, and candied ginger! Freezing the fruit before blending results in a colder smoothie. You can purchase unsweetened bags of frozen mixed fruits at supermarkets. Feel free to substitute orange juice with another type of fruit juice or even water. Bananas can be omitted for more fruit, but they help thicken the smoothie.
Avoid using milk. Instead, use juice and a banana along with frozen fruits. Typically, orange juice, a bit of cranberry juice, a banana, frozen strawberries, frozen mango, frozen peaches, and raspberry sorbet make a delicious smoothie.
