The road to Palm Springs is a dusty, unassuming exit in the middle of the desert, which during the 60s and 70s transformed into a runway for gleaming Cadillacs driven by celebrities like Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis Presley. In the same spirit of escaping reality and seeking an oasis for our most colorful dreams, Concept Hotel Group gifts us this summer with their ninth opening in Ibiza, Los Felices, a hotel entirely dedicated to the fashion sector.
Last Saturday, June 29th, we attended the inauguration event, the official presentation of this project. Among the hundreds of guests were influencers, designers, models, press, and celebrities, both regulars of the island and those who came specifically for the occasion, all eager to discover the new place to be. A radiant blue sky transitioned from the light of a blazing sun to the spotlight of the stage and dance floor as numerous artists performed, quite literally, and kept the audience dancing well into the night. Julia Nar, with her ethereal electronic music, Russian Red, renewed and touring her new Spanish album, Egosex with their powerful live performance, Jay Jay Revlon and his vogue dancers who left everyone amazed and wanting to join in with their spins and impossible moves, and Toccororo’s energetic DJ set, who made a stellar entrance descending from the ramp of the Futuro House like a voguer, culminating a party that will undoubtedly remain in the memory of all attendees.
Every Corner a Fashion Stop
Every corner of Los Felices is a fascinating stop on a journey through fashion. Starting with each of the 107 rooms and six villas, which pay homage to different designers, giving each space a unique personality, like Alejandro Gómez Palomo, Pepa Salazar, María Escoté, London-based Ibizan Angel Nokonoko, Di Petsa, or EgonLab. Other collaborations with big names from the runways are still to come, because the best journeys never end.
The mid-century style fills the entrance of Los Felices: the Hall of Fame dedicated to participating creators, the Fashiontèque, a tribute to traditional kiosks and a love for magazines where, of course, you can find the latest issues of METAL and ACERO, and the reception desk, designed in the shape of sunglasses, with a huge screen that is a permanent window to the best fashion shows.
Curated Boutiques and Gastronomy
Also at the entrance is Les Fleurs Boutique, curated by stylist and designer María Bernad, where you can find not only her creations but also those of other designers committed to sustainability in fashion. She demonstrated this by leading a customization workshop with Levi’s. Along with Christophe Ledoux and the agency and collective Lexa, she has also curated the list of designers who lend their names to each room.
Los Felices completes its offering with two hedonistic and essential areas in this paradise: The Restaurant, a result of the collaboration with Grosso Napoletano, named Bambola, offering a gluten-free menu and expanding its renowned pizza selection with other dishes, all served on exclusively designed tableware by artist Miranda Makaroff; and The Palms Pool Club, featuring a pink pool and a yellow pool separated by a DJ booth in the shape of a parasol, allowing us to mention the musical curation by musician and DJ Álvaro Naïve. The Madrid-based it-boy and regular face at fashion events and festivals is responsible for creating the playlist that will imbue each space and different moments of this pastel universe with the soul it deserves.
Looking to the Future
Lastly, we cannot forget the forward-looking aspect of this newly born project. On one hand, the Pop-Up Room, a multidisciplinary space for workshops, showcases, and ephemeral events, and The Club, set to open in 2025, which will crown the nights with sessions on par with the best afterparties of a fashion show. The Futuro House Stage, inspired by houses created by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen in the 70s, will serve as a backstage for future fashion shows and concerts held at the hotel. During the inauguration, we witnessed this firsthand: at the start of each performance, the pink UFO opened its doors, allowing the performing artists to descend the stairs, revealing a parallel party happening inside.
In his previous ventures, CEO and founder Diego Calvo invited us to travel to Las Vegas, Miami, Havana, or the Amalfi Coast, not just through design and architecture but also through an immersive experience in the world of cinema, art, and rock, transporting us without leaving the island to 50s Cuba or the timeless aesthetics of the Italian dolce vita. At Los Felices, we will leave behind boredom, enveloped in pink and yellow and inspired by the numerous artists involved, to evoke the nostalgia of fashion star glamour and enjoy a paradisiacal experience surrounded by the most vibrant creativity.
