In a world saturated with noise, the value of silence becomes ever more profound. Silence is what gives meaning to any sound, the essential precondition for its enjoyment, and the source of its expressiveness. It is silence that endows music with its power, and it is also the pause that accompanies our breath, the beat of our heart, and each critical moment when we must formulate a thoughtful response to a challenging question. In Ibiza, El Silencio is a beautiful spot by the sea that combines art, gastronomy, music, and entertainment in one place.
This transcendental and enigmatic silence inspired the club of the same name in the movie “Mulholland Drive,” and over a decade ago, its director, David Lynch, brought it from the big screen to reality at 142 Rue de Montmartre in Paris, turning it into a luxurious nightclub and artistic hub. Three years ago, this alluring paradise moved to a brighter and more vibrant location: the secluded Cala Molí in Ibiza. Designed by the Mallorcan studio Moredesign, El Silencio Ibiza features four different atmospheres: a deluxe beach bar, a tapas and cocktail bar by the pool, a chill-out area, and a private space, all while respecting the natural surroundings with local materials like juniper wood, esparto, and sand.
For this summer, El Silencio Ibiza offers an exciting collaboration among renowned professionals from various fields, including famous chef Mauro Colagreco, the Sunset Live Sessions by DJ Nightmares On Wax, an art installation by Alpha Wave Experience, a pop-up store from eyewear brand Gigi Studio, and the season’s highlight: El Silencio Cabaret, a show created by Ali Mahdavi inspired by 19th-century Parisian brothels and the vibrant colors of the Movida madrileña.
Chef Mauro Colagreco, recently named UNESCO ambassador for biodiversity for his environmental work, returns for the second year to El Silencio with a new Mediterranean-inspired menu focused on grilling with an international twist. His vision of the island is reflected in dishes ranging from stuffed piquillo peppers and Galician-style octopus to generous salads like tomato, peach, and verbena, or wood-fired delicacies like turbot. At night, Colagreco’s culinary magic continues on the first floor of El Silencio with a Japanese restaurant guided by the great omakase tradition, offering a unique seven-course service for thirty guests.
If you choose not to dine, you can still enjoy a signature cocktail crafted by Remy Savage, a Franco-Irish mixologist from the elite group The World’s 50 Best Bars, while taking a refreshing dip in the pool or the sea, with the island’s most spectacular sunset as your backdrop. Additionally, every Tuesday night, the Sunset Live Sessions curated by Nightmares On Wax, the eclectic artist from Leeds, take over the venue with a blend of electronic sounds and hip-hop rhythms.
From music to art, after years of igniting dance floors worldwide, Dan Ghenacia brings a unique installation titled “The Oracle,” created with his collective Alpha Wave Experience. This installation reinterprets the Dreammachine created by Brion Gysin, a pillar of the Beat Generation, in the late 1950s. The Oracle stimulates the brain and optic nerve, inducing alpha wave frequencies through flickering light effects. The experience, enjoyed with eyes closed, allows visitors to see a unique palette of colors, patterns, and geometric shapes while in a meditative state. The project is supported by Gigi Studio, which also has a pop-up store presenting a special capsule collection called El Silencio Ibiza. For those who want to party late into the night, El Silencio collaborates with Club Chinois for a series of electronic parties featuring renowned DJs such as Agoria, Miss Kittin, and Red Axes.
And if that weren’t enough, every night El Silencio Cabaret raises its curtain, where artists trained on stages like Crazy Horse, Folies Bergères, and Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show offer various performances under the artistic direction of Ali Mahdavi, blending art, fashion, dance, and burlesque. The nights conclude with different resident DJs, including the French Urumi. So, if all this sounds appealing, you have the whole month of August to experience it for yourself.
