Omar Rudberg
You may recognize Omar Rudberg from his role in the popular Netflix series Young Royals, which is unfortunately concluding in 2024. He’s also known for his music, especially his hit song Mi Casa Su Casa, which has almost thirteen million streams on Spotify. Today, we catch up with this multifaceted artist as he ventures into a new creative arena with his beauty brand, OMR Beauty, launching its first product, Intro.
“As a creative soul, creating comes naturally to me, whether it’s music, beauty products, or a brand vision,” Omar shared in our interview. His creativity and proactive nature have led him to explore another new endeavor. OMR Beauty, a project in the making for over a year, debuts today with Intro, a unisex perfume Omar describes as “incredibly well-balanced.” He explains, “It’s powerful and spicy with a hint of sweetness, yet not heavy or overwhelming.”
Intro comes in a sleek, minimalistic purple glass bottle and is available online now. It features a blend of juicy grapefruit, luxurious orris, sweet apples, Brazilian pink peppercorn, soft lavender, spicy ginger, warm sandalwood, sensual amber, and green leaves. It sounds enticing, but to truly appreciate it, you have to smell it for yourself. Hi Omar, it’s great to chat with you. How are you today?
I’m doing well! There’s so much happening right now, and I’m busy every day, but I’m enjoying it.
You wear many hats as an actor, singer, and now a beauty brand founder. What does a typical day look like for you, if there is one?
No two days are the same, and that’s what I love about my work. I spend a lot of time in the studio working on new music. I’m also preparing for the final season of Young Royals in 2024. OMR Beauty takes up a significant amount of my time too. My days usually start with a check-in with my team, and can involve anything from a photoshoot to a full day at the office.
*You recently made your big-screen debut with *Karusell* and are launching OMR Beauty this week. Do you believe in manifesting? Do you have any daily mantras?*
I always believe that nothing is impossible; I just go for it and pursue what I believe in. OMR Beauty is a passion project for me, and it was essential to create a modern unisex brand with top-quality products.
You’ve been open about your love for makeup and cosmetics. Do you remember your first experiences with makeup and perfume? How has your relationship with them evolved?
As a child, I often borrowed my mom’s makeup but quickly washed it off. Makeup and fashion have always been fun ways for me to express my creativity. Now, I don’t worry about others’ opinions; I wear what I like. Launching my first fragrance has only deepened my interest.
Your brand’s first product, Intro, is a unisex perfume in a sleek purple bottle. How would you describe it to our readers?
Yes, Intro is a confident fragrance that I personally adore. I’ve been using it secretly for almost a year and like it more each day. It’s powerful and spicy with a hint of sweetness, yet not heavy or overwhelming, making it easy to wear.
What are some of your favorite scents, not just perfumes but anything that triggers a deep reaction in you?
I prefer fresh scents, like the smell of being freshly showered. The best is when you hug someone or walk past them and think, “Wow, that’s a nice scent.”
I read an article about niche perfumery trends, including scents designed to evoke fear, anxiety, or plastic dolls. What are your thoughts on these unusual fragrances?
It sounds intriguing! It’s hard to imagine how such descriptions smell, but it’s definitely cool.
Did you know there’s an art gallery in Mexico City called Galería OMR? Your brand’s name reminded me of it. Have you been there?
What a great name! Those who chose it have excellent taste. I haven’t visited, but I’ll check it out.
You’ve always been a creative person in the entertainment industry. How have you managed the business side of launching a brand?
I believe in stepping out of my comfort zone. Being a creative soul, creating comes naturally to me, whether it’s music or beauty products. It’s also about choosing the right team—those who think like I do and share my values. Working on OMR Beauty for a year has been fantastic, and I’m learning a lot.
This is just the beginning for OMR Beauty. Can you share any future plans?
You’d probably love to know! We have some amazing things in the pipeline, but for now, our focus is on Intro.
I can’t end the interview without discussing your other projects. You’ve released a lot of music this year. Can we expect something bigger soon? And you’re preparing your first concert in 2024, right?
Yes, I’m working on my first solo concert, which I’m very excited about. There are many plans for my music, with great things in the works. That’s all I can share for now.
