Nestled in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, Kimpton Vividora may look like just another street-side café at first glance, but it’s actually a splendid five-star hotel. This subtlety and seamless blend with the city’s streetscape are intentional, embodying the essence of the unique luxury experience Kimpton Vividora offers.
Last year marked the opening of the first Kimpton hotel in Spain, joining a global network of 77 boutique hotels and restaurants. The Barcelona location opened its doors in March 2020, just before the global challenges that followed. Despite the tough circumstances, the hotel has emerged successfully. After a necessary pause, Vividora reopened with a primary goal: to make everyone feel at home, whether you’re visiting or a local resident. Guests and non-guests alike are welcome, and pets are allowed as long as they fit in the elevator.
Opening its doors to the local community might seem like a response to the drop in tourism, but Vividora had this inclusive approach in its original plans. The hotel aims to redefine the urban hotel experience, inviting Barcelona’s residents to enjoy its public spaces, from the street-level terrace to the rooftop pool and coworking areas. Experiencing Vividora firsthand is highly encouraged.
The hotel features 156 rooms, including 10 suites, giving it the feel of a cozy urban retreat despite its boutique label. Its culinary offerings include the charming street-level Got café, accessible without passing through the hotel reception, which is located on the first floor. This design choice enhances the hotel’s integration into the neighborhood. The rooftop terrace Vivi boasts a quaint pool and offers cocktails and tapas with views of the old city. The Fauna restaurant serves a more refined Mediterranean menu with a curated selection of local and natural wines.
Designed by Equipo Creativo, the interior of Kimpton Vividora reflects the spirit of Barcelona in every detail. Inspired by the Gothic Quarter, the design incorporates stone, greenery, and water as key elements, featuring local designer furniture and natural materials. Warm tones of brown, ochre, and terracotta, along with green hues and various shades of blue reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea, create a contemporary luxury that blends seamlessly with the surroundings. The hotel also supports young Catalan artists by showcasing their work to an international clientele.
